Our Family through another company developed our 1st Riding Establishment in the 1960’s in Waterloo. It was called Beechwood Riding Academy. At the time, it was the area’s most modern riding school, offering lessons in dressage, equitation, and jumping, with recreational riding on miles of scenic trails. It played host to the eighth annual Rotary Central Ontario Horse Show in June 1966 which brought many people and horses to the farm to compete in jumping, hunter, Arabian & Western divisions. It provided a special summer Riding School for beginners and advanced riders, conducted by Captain John deKenyeres, Chief instructor and manager of the Eglinton Equestrian Centre, Desmond Hertelendy, Beechwood’s chief instructor and Sandra Clair, instructor at Beechwood.
